Isla De Ometepe, Nicaragua

Photos of my Journey to Isla De Ometepe
So I visited Fairyland, "Isla De Ometepe." Unexpectedly I was dropped off the boat at San Jose del Sur port. Linked up with some other travelers and we went to Finca Magdalena.
It’s an isolated side of Ometepe beside Maderas, (the smaller volcanoe). It was gorgeous, an old farmhouse on an organic coffee plantation, i met one cool people when I was on the island. I and another guy walked for 2.5 hours to Ojo de Agua. Its two crystal clear mineral water holes and one is about 60 meters long. It was great chilling out for the day and it was full of sound travelers.
I worked out with two lads from Oregon, but we used "chubba" & "betsy" (two rocks) to work out and we just dipped into the pools to cool down. They were great guys and had whole different perspective on life and were truly living a sustainable life and giving back to their communities, was very insightful as corny as that sounds. Anyhow the Ojo de Agua is always flowing through the rocks so you can swim against the current at the joining point of the two pools. I had great day but I’m paid for it as I got badly sun burnt.
On my third day i got up at 4am, i had to hike down the borine/mountain side. It was tough slog with sun burn but torch helped me make my way down to the bus stop, where a piglet and little piglet and a loud cock gave me a "Buenos Dias." I then grabbed a 2 hour bus which is really, really rough, then a boat and more busses to my next destination. Read the next post :)
If your thinking of visiting, definitely avoid staying in Moyogalpa or Altagracia and stay on the remote side of Ometepe as its far less touristy. Also there is only one ATM which will probably not work.
