morro de sao paulo, Brazil

Morro de Sao Paulo was an unexpected trip, decided the previous morning at 5am. I had hit it off with my Columbian amigo´s (who gave me a crash course in transferring my weak Spanish to Portuguese). I discovered Tapioca´s, with cheese and tomatoes being my favourite. We had this really cool little corner restaurant which was cheap, cheerful and best located beside the second and third beaches. The guys played tunes and Andrea proved to Daniel that she could dance.

The islands beaches are beautiful and cater for all needs, it’s a quite spot and I was surprised that i actually lasted three weeks on this beautiful island. Even through my poor Portuguese I grew close to most of the HI hostel staff member, which are lovely people and it is a nice place but if you have a group of two or more its better value to stay in a Pousada beside the beach. People came and went over the time I stayed there and I met some really cool people.

There was Wilfred (above) the friendly giant, who encouraged me to work out a little more, and as a result I ended up walking around like a muscle bound body builder (without the muscle). Mimi was great banter for the parties, Corinne is lovely and Marcus was a great guy from Barcelona, who later showed my sis around Barcelona. We went for barefoot 5km beach runs and attempted the odd sit up to cover off the beer from the night before.

Cobra outside hostel.
We took a day boat trip which speeded around the surrounding islands, including Boiepeda and Cairu. I met two Canadians brothers that i last met in Salvador. We swam out against the current onto sand dunes and another island which was great for getting some exercise.

The beach parties kick off at 1am and if you think you can dance...you can´t, LOL, no seriously the guys and girls here are amazing at dancing and it seems like working out and playing football is Brazilians men main hobby as the vanity amongst them is outrageous.

Morro was really cool from the perspective that guys and girls would just start practicing capoeira randomly on the beach and it became the norm for me to see whilst there.

Its a special place and I suggest you consider putting it down as a book mark place to chilax.
