Riobamba and Chimborazo in Ecuador

Arrived in Riobamba Ecuador and had nothing but rain.
There was one reason i was here and that was to hike up 5,000 meteres on Chimborazo, the largest mountain in Ecquador and then mountain bike down to all the way toSan Juan.
2 weeks ago a guy had been killed by lightning on the mountain and i was about to cycle in a thunder storm, but dont worry i was fine.
The hike was great but i was well warned that it was not a trip for beginners and you really shouldnt go fast.
I had about 5 meteres visibility and as expected the speed junky went to work, after 15 minutes i absolutly recked myself, hit this gap in the road and went straight over the handle bars. Landed on my helmet and smashed my shoulder into the ground, i was in bits and still am but couldnt stop smiling as i knew how lucky i was and how typical it was of me.
Then i got a flat tyre and shortly after i was off pacing down the hill again. The only manner to describe the cycle is; "Its an awesome adrenaline junky ride, " i went from mountain top freezing to, off road, tthrough fields, through cow paths and indegenous villages and oh lets not forget the 6 vicious dogs that i paced by and barely escaped, i was shaking afterwards, such a close call. It was absolutly brillinat and right up my alley, lads you would have loved it.I left at 8 that morning and arrived back at 5.30, i spent most of it on the bike and got a serious work out.
There was one climb that took me under 9 minutes and my guides recod is 7 and he was well impressed, although i couldnt have done it if he had not given me a few technichal tips, i reckon im addicted to this sport when i repair myself :)
Cycled bottom left of the photo to top right in under 9 mins On the trek i stoped the odd time to take in the sites and surroundings ; some bulls, several humming birds, remains of an old inca fortess, (well, what is left of it,) and a natural mineral spring. I finished my trip in San Juna even though i was recked and it was great feelling of achievement.
Every layer represents a volcanic period.
